INTUMET TECHNOLOGY: Intumescence That Fits the Application

INTUMET for Lite Kits

Positive-pressure fire testing for lite kits requires intumescent performance different from what is needed to protect dynamic door perimeters. The most important function of the material in this application is to hold a lite kit firmly in place in positive-pressure and furnace-heat conditions. Relatively little expansion is required for this purpose, and there is no need for low-temperature intumescence--or a reservoir to supply continuing expansion. 45, 60 and 90-minute doors must also pass the hose-stream portion of the test standard. The answer is a hard-puff formulation with a char strong enough to hold the glass in position as it slumps in reaction to elevating temperatures and positive pressure.

Our INTUMET Glazing Tape with hard-puff intumescence attaches to wire glass and the metal lite kit to prevent slumping. It forms an exceptionally hard char, which is further reinforced by glass fiber mesh encased in the material. The mesh also provides directional expansion. This unique feature helps ensure that the tape remains in place securing the lite kit assembly.

INTUMET Glazing Tape is available in any thickness, any width up to 12-inches, and can be ordered in custom colors.
